In the dead of night

There’s something really exciting about traveling at night and not only because a new adventure awaits when you open your eyes. It’s a time when the unknown is acceptable – the nervous energy is thrilling rather than frightening. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when it’s totally acceptable to be afraid of the dark (don’t go into the attic), but not when a strange new land awaits.

As an adult the excitement dims when you’re the one behind the wheel – when you have to drive seven or eight hours to get to that land. But still, it’s worth it. Penzance is magical, even on three hours sleep (not because of it).

Our holiday home, an old, converted chapel is both quirky and familiar. It has welcomed us in fine style and cocooned me in a peaceful sleep when I eventually crashed and burned!

Right now I’m going to explore; to dream and to create in my head even as I wonder at the beautiful sights.
